Refreshing and characterful with a chalky texture, it boasts citrus, delicate floral aromas, and a smoky note that reflects the island’s volcanic basalt soils.
Taking its name from Tenerife’s unique trellising method, el cordón trenzado, where vine branches are braided together, sometimes stretching for meters. Tenerife’s rich winemaking history includes indigenous varieties like Listán Negro, Tintilla, and Baboso Negro, often grown on vines over a century old, many trained in the distinctive braided style.
Suertes del Marqués sources its grapes from the Orotava Valley on the island’s cooler north side, where steep volcanic slopes and clay soils nurture low-yielding, ancient vines. Their wines showcase remarkable freshness, balance, and a pure expression of Tenerife’s terroir. Winemaker Jonatan Garcia is among a new wave of passionate Spanish producers embracing the island’s viticultural heritage, crafting wines that let its volcanic soils shine.
