ORGANIC / VEGAN
A sweet and aromatic masterpiece of Moscato Nero from Sicily. Garnet-hued with soft orange reflections, with an intricate bouquet of ripe plum, sun-dried apricot, and candied orange peel, as well as sweet spices and rich fig preserves. On the palate, it’s soft and velvety. Subtle tannins lend structure, leading up to a fresh, lingering finish of dried fruits.
Born of an experiment by Ca Lustra’s Franco Zanovello two decades ago, this wine celebrates a grape variety nearly lost to time. From the rolling Euganean Hills of Northern Italy to Sicily’s sun-drenched coast, it reflects the dedication of winemakers who share a passion for reviving traditions. After drying on the vine, hand harvested grapes are lovingly transported in small baskets to the winery. Here, they ferment spontaneously, and rest through winter in stainless steel before aging for two years in large oak barrels, gaining depth and complexity.
The grape’s migration from hilly Veneto to sunny Sicily finds its perfect expression in this low-yield, high-character wine. The unique combination of mild climates, mineral-rich soils, and patient craftsmanship delivers a sweet, aromatic masterpiece with a soul all its own.
A joint effort of Ca Lustra and Valdibella, an impressive and inspiring cooperative based in Sicily’s west who have a huge focus on biodiverse farmlands, an active social impact, and are part of the Addiopizzo anti-mafia movement.
